
Cacok Scores Career-Best, But South Bay Falls to Texas

LAS VEGAS, NV - The South Bay Lakers dropped their second game of the G League Showcase as they fell to the Texas Legends, 122-115, on Saturday afternoon. Devontae Cacok scored a career-high 32 points for South Bay (8-9) and Kostas Antetokounmpo finished with 18 of his own. Nate Mason led the Legends (10-8) with 22 points and 12 assists.
The Legends held a seven-point lead, 38-31, after one, behind 11 points in the frame from Dakota Mathias. Cacok scored eight points in the first to keep the Lakers close. Antetokuonmpo and Cacok combined for 16 points in the second quarter as the Lakers inched closer, 65-64, at the half. Antetokounmpo finished with 14 first-half points, while Cacok tallied a 16-point, 10-rebound double-double through the first 24 minutes.
Texas pulled away in the third quarter to grab a 95-80 lead, despite 10 more points in the frame from Cacok, who upped his point total to 26 through three. South Bay got within four points in the fourth quarter, as Reggie Hearn and Zach Norvell Jr. combined for 17 points in the period, but the Legends secured the win down the stretch.
Mason and Moses Brown (16 points, 10 rebounds) secured double-doubles and Josh Reaves led the Legends in scoring with 23 points. Antonius Cleveland tallied 19 points and Mathias finished with 18 points to round out the double-digit scoring for Texas.
Cacok put together a career night with 32 points (16-25 FG), 16 rebounds and two assists, while Antetokounmpo finished with 18 points, three rebounds, three steals and an assist. Talen Horton-Tucker did a bit of everything with 14 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. Norvell Jr. (14 points, career-high eight assists) and Hearn (13 points) also scored in double digits for South Bay.
South Bay returns after the holidays when they hit the road to face the Northern Arizona Suns on Saturday, December 28 at 4:00pm from the Findlay Toyota Center in Prescott Valley, AZ.
