Idaho Steelheads News Release

Boise, ID (11/21/13) - Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Brad Ralph announced Thursday that defenseman Ryan Button has been recalled from the Idaho Steelheads by the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League. Additionally, defenseman Carl Sneep has been suspended by the team.

Idaho (ECHL) and Texas (AHL) are the primary development affiliates of the NHL's Dallas Stars.

Button, 22, will join Texas after starting the season strong for the Steelheads. Button is tied for the most points in the ECHL among defensemen (11) and his game-winning goal Wednesday night against Utah extended his career-best point streak to six consecutive games. In fact, the Edmonton native has more points in thirteen games with the Steelheads this season than he had in his first 90 professional games (9), which were split between the AHL and the ECHL. Button was acquired by the Dallas Stars as part of a blockbuster trade with the Boston Bruins that included Tyler Seguin, Rich Peverly and Loui Eriksson.

The 26-year-old Sneep left the team after picking up three points in 13 games with the Steelheads, prompting Idaho to place him on team suspension.

Idaho kicks off a three-game-in-three-day road trip Friday night at San Francisco. The game begins at 8:30 PM (Mtn) and can be heard live on KTIK (1350 AM) in the Treasure Valley. The Steelheads face Stockton on Saturday and Sunday before returning home to host the Las Vegas Wranglers at CenturyLink Arena on Tuesday.

Group outings at a Steelheads game are a great way to gather friends, colleagues, or co-workers for a fun night out in downtown Boise. Ticket prices are discounted and you can get a Pepsi, Double-R Ranch Hot Dog, and bag of Tim's Cascade Chips with each ticket.
