Traverse City Beach Bums News Release

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. - In benefit of breast cancer awareness, Traverse City Beach Bum players Brett Bostelman, Brandon McArthur, and Mike Epping took time out of their first day back from being on the road to help raise money and visit with patients at Munson Medical Center on Wednesday.

After a six game away stretch, the Beach Bums arrived only hours before they went to volunteer their time in assisting with the bake sale. Bostelman, McArthur, and Epping took pictures for the Munson newsletter and with hospital employees, all while supporting a great cause.

After enjoying a baked good or two, the players were given a tour of the hospital facilities and made a stop in the Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Services Unit to visit with a couple patients. Some of the patients, who are currently residing in the rehabilitation unit, are recovering from neurological disorders, spinal cord injuries, multiple trauma injuries, strokes, and recent amputations.

The Beach Bums will be dressed in pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness this Saturday, August 1, for "Paint the Park Pink Night," against the Florence Freedom. Prior to the game, there will be a 3K walk through the area surrounding the park. During the game, a silent auction for the pink jerseys will be held to raise funds for Breast Cancer Awareness.

The gates at Wuerful Park open at 5:05 p.m., with the first pitch at 7:05 p.m. The first 500 fans thorough the gate will receive pink Breast Cancer Awareness bracelets.
