Midwest Sliders of Ypsilanti News Release

The Midwest Sliders of Ypsilanti put together a 8-0 victory with great pitching, and power hitting. The Sliders beat the Kalamazoo Kings at Homer Stryker Field behind Jeff Fischer who didn't allow a run in 7 2/3 innings.

Fischer only allowed one hit in the first four innings of work and five hits overall. He earned his fourth win for the Sliders in only five starts.

The Midwest bats were also alive tonight as they powered two bombs and eight runs on way to evening up the series.

Robbie Knapp hit a two-run homer in the fourth, and Jimmy Baker hit a solo shot in the third to put more then enough runs on the board for Fischer.

Both Baker and Knapp ended up collecting three hits on the night and two RBI's. Sam DeLuca also sprayed three hits and knocked in two RBI's.

Eric Gilliland came on in the eighth to stop and King scoring threat, and closed the door in the ninth.

First pitch for Friday's rubber match is at 7:05 p.m. Kyle Wink (1-1, 4.34) will be on the slab for Midwest as they will try to take the series against first place Kalamazoo.
