Traverse City Beach Bums News Release
TRAVERSE CITY, MI - In a game that stayed scoreless until the seventh inning, the Traverse City Beach Bums(6-10) dropped a close contest to the River City Rascals(9-7), 2-0
Rob Blanc got the start tonight for the Beach Bums, and although he walked three batters, he also struck out six, and kept the game scoreless through five innings. River City started their half of the seventh inning with a walk to Kyle Gaedele. He was moved to second on a sacrifice bunt then he stole third. Two batters later, Jason Merjano hit a fly ball to medium left field. Ryan Bottger charged the ball, caught it, and fired to the plate, but it was too late, as Gaedele scored on the sacrifice fly, making it 1-0.
In the ninth, River City picked up an insurance run, with a quick two out rally. Merjano singled then stole both second and third. Josh Silver followed with a single to left, scoring Merjano, supplying all of the offense the Rascals would need to secure the win.
Zeb Sneed got the start on the mound for the Rascals and on his way to a complete game shut out, he struck out eleven, and allowed two hits and a walk. He improves to 1-1. After Blanc's solid start, Benjamin Libuda gave up a run on one hit and two walks in two innings of work. He suffers the loss dropping to 0-1.
