DURHAM, N.C. - The Durham Bulls dropped their eighth straight contest Tuesday evening at the DBAP, falling 2-1 to the Indianapolis Indians in the first game of a four-game set.

After getting swept by Syracuse in a battle of division leaders for the first four games of the current homestand, another division leader - the IL West front-running Indians - picked up where the Chiefs left off.

Mel Rojas singled in a run off of starter Enny Romero in the second inning to give Indianapolis (46-32) the early lead. An error by Hak-Ju Lee led to an unearned run in the third for the Indians as they posted a 2-0 advantage.

Romero (3-8), named to the All-Star Futures Game roster earlier in the day, allowed six hits in six innings, striking out six in the hard-luck loss.

The Bulls (43-37) were stymied by Nick Kingham (2-0), who earned the win by giving up just two hits through 6 2/3 innings. Durham managed an unearned run in the seventh when Jayson Nix's potential inning-ending grounder was booted by third baseman Brent Morel, allowing Mikie Mahtook to score from third base.

The Bulls and Indians play the second game of the four-game set at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday. RHP Nathan Karns (3-4, 5.58) starts for the Bulls against RHP Jake Brigham (2-5, 3.26) for the Indians.
