
Johnson Selected to the 2014 Sirius XM All-Star Futures Game

(Uptown Charlotte, NC) - Charlotte second baseman Micah Johnson, who is ranked as the sixth-best prospect in the White Sox organization by Baseball America, was named to the 2014 Sirius XM All-Star Futures Game earlier today. The Indianapolis, IN native will play for the US Team. The 16th annual SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game will take place at 5:00 p.m. ET on Sunday, July 13, at Target Field in Minneapolis. Fans can watch the game live on MLB.com and MLB Network.
Johnson, 23, began the 2014 season with Double-A Birmingham and was leading the Southern League in hitting with an impressive .329 mark at the time of his promotion on May 13. He had 18 runs scored, nine doubles, one triple, three home runs, 16 RBIs, and 10 stolen bases for the Barons in 37 games. Currently, Johnson is hitting .279 with one home run, four doubles, four stolen bases and seven RBIs for the Knights in 24 games.
Originally selected by the White Sox in the ninth round of the 2012 draft, Johnson is a product of Indiana University where he was Second Team All-Big Ten in 2011. He made his professional debut in 2012 with Great Falls (Advanced Rookie) and hit .273 with 49 runs scored, 10 doubles, five triples, four home runs, 25 RBIs, and 19 stolen bases. He led the club in hits (74), triples, total bases (105), walks (43), stolen bases, runs scored, and games played (69).
Johnson began the 2013 season with Kannapolis (A) and hit .342 with 17 doubles, 11 triples, six home runs, 42 RBIs, and 61 stolen bases. He was promoted to Winston-Salem (A+) on July 4 and continued to hit. In 49 games with the Dash, Johnson posted a .275 batting average with seven doubles, four triples, one home run, 15 RBIs and 22 stolen bases. He jumped one more level before season's end - going to Double-A Birmingham on August 29. In five regular season games with the Barons, he hit .238 (5-for-21) with two runs scored, one RBI, and one stolen base.
Each Major League team is represented in the 16th annual SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game . Also playing in this year's game from the White Sox organization is Winston-Salem (A+) starter Francellis Montas, who is 3-0 with a 1.64 ERA in nine starts for the Dash this season. Montas will play for the World Team.
