Windy City Bulls News Release
The Windy City Bulls, presented by BMO Harris Bank, the official G League affiliate of the Chicago Bulls, defeated the Greensboro Swarm 110-107 on Friday Night.
It was a fast-paced opening quarter as both teams wasted little time getting the ball up and down the floor.
Simi Shittu started off strong for the Bulls, notching eight points and six rebound in the opening frame.
Windy City played well both offensively and defensively, holding an opponent averaging 110.7 points per game to just 45 points in first half while forcing 12 Greensboro turnovers.
The Bulls shot .449 from the floor in the opening 24 minutes, led by Shittu with 13 points on 6-for-8 shooting to go along with six rebounds and three steals. Jaron Blossomgame added 11 points and seven rebounds as Windy City was able to build an 11-point at the break, 56-45.
Former UIC Flames player Tai Odiase led the scoring for the Swarm at half with 12 points and five rebounds.
Greensboro jumped out on a 15-4 run to begin the second half and quickly erased the Windy City lead behind former Loyola Rambler Donte Ingram with seven points in the third quarter.
Justin Simon halted the run with a three-pointer and took the lead for the Bulls 65-60, but the two teams continued to trade leads for the remainder of the game.
Greensboro led heading into the final 12 minutes, 85-83.
There were ten lead-changes and six ties in the second half alone as both sides battled for the win into the final minutes.
Milton Doyle knocked down key back-to-back three-point attempts to give Windy City a 108-103 lead with just under three minutes remaining.
The Swarm ultimately could not find the shots to close the gap as the seconds ticked away, and the Bulls held on for the road victory.
Charlotte Hornets Assignment player Dwayne Bacon tallied 19 second-half points to finish at 29, to go with ten rebounds, seven assists and a block. Charlotte Hornets Two-Way player Ray Spalding out of Louisville ended with 16 points, 12 rebounds and two steals.
Blossomgame continued his stellar play for Windy City, finishing with 24 points, ten rebounds and two assists. Shittu finished with 19 points, nine rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Windy City (16-22) will look for their fifth win in six tries tomorrow night as they travel to Delaware to take on the Blue Coats.
