DURHAM, NC - The Durham Bulls saw their five-game win streak come to an end Sunday evening, as the Bulls' bats were held in check in a 5-1 loss to the Buffalo Bisons at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.

A Sunday crowd of 9,200 fans piled into the DBAP for the series finale and a celebration of the 20th anniversary between the Bulls and their parent club, the Tampa Bay Rays. Donning their new Rays-inspired alternate jerseys, the Bulls jumped ahead with a run in the first but quickly ground to a halt as they were held to a season-low with one run and four hits. Despite the loss, the Bulls leave Durham with a series win over Buffalo and a 5-1 record on the homestand.

Durham's first inning tally came on a leadoff double by new Bull Mallex Smith off the Blue Monter in left, followed one out later by an RBI groundout from Jake Bauers to put the home team ahead 1-0. That lead lasted until the fourth, with Bulls starting pitcher Brent Honeywell retiring the first nine batters he faced.

The Bisons broke out in the fourth however, scoring five runs on five hits and a walk to chase Honeywell from the game and take a 5-1 lead. The big hits in the frame came from Jason Leblebijian and Jake Elmore, who hit a two-RBI double and a two-RBI single respectively to give the visitors a four-run advantage.

The Bulls' bats were never able to rally, as they got a runner in scoring position just once the rest of the way. Buffalo picked up one last insurance run with an RBI double by Ian Parmley in the top of the ninth for the final 6-1 score.

Smith (1-4, 2B), Willy Adames (1-3, BB), Patrick Leonard (1-4), and Curt Casli (1-3) each finished with one hit apiece on the night, with Casali's base knock stretching his hitting streak to 12 straight games.

Honeywell (1-2) took the loss for Durham, with five runs allowed on five hits, one walk, and four strikeouts over 3.2 innings pitched. Bisons starter Luis Santos (1-1) earned the win with one run given up on three hits and four strikeouts during his 5 innings on the mound.

The Bulls (16-7) have an off-day on Monday before heading to Gwinnett for a three-game series against the second place Braves. First pitch on Tuesday is scheduled for 7:05 pm, with LHP Ryan Yarbrough (1-2, 3.65) set to take on RHP Luke Jackson (0-1, 4.32).
