Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders News Release

ABOUT LAST NIGHT: The RailRiders fell behind early and saw their rally come up short in an 8-5 loss to the Indianapolis Indians on Saturday afternoon at PNC Field. The Indians (7-14) evened the three-game set against the RailRiders (11-10).

HOT CORNER: Infielder Tyler Wade made his first career professional start at third base on Saturday. Wade's last appearance at the hot corner was in 2014 at Low-A Charleston. Wade finished 1-for-4 at the plate with a bunt single and RBI.

BOOGITY BOOGITY BOOGITY: Wade swiped third base in the eighth inning for his eighth stolen base of the year. The Californian is tied with Gwinnett's Ozzie Albies for the most pilfered bags in the IL. He stole 28 in 35 attempts at Double-A Trenton last summer.

GEORGIA POWER: Outfielder Dustin Fowler finished 2-for-5 on Saturday with an RBI. The Cadwell, Ga., native has a hit in four straight games and has driven in a run in each of the last three. Fowler has gone 6-for-16 (.375) in that span with three extra-base knocks, lifting his average up to .305.

AN UNFORUNATE TALE: Right-hander Brady Lail suffered his first loss of the season after allowing seven runs over seven innings. He surrendered a career worst 12 hits.

NEVER HAVE I EVER: On Friday and Saturday in Indy last weekend, SWB had its first back-to-back 1-0 shutout wins as the Yankees' top farm club. The franchise had not turned the trick since at least 2004. SWB has not recorded three consecutive shutout victories by any score since the 2009 then-SWB Yankees blanked Charlotte in a pair of seven-inning games on May 15, 1-0 and 3-0, followed by a seven-inning shutout of Columbus on May 17, 3-0. The 2016 RailRiders led the minors with a franchise-record 24 shutouts.

YOUNG GUNS: Wade, Clint Frazier and Dustin Fowler, the RailRiders' usual 1-2-3 hitters early this season, are all 22 years old. The IL's mean-average age for position players early this season stands a shade under 27.

UP, DOWN AND ALL AROUND: The Yankees grabbed sole possession of first place in the AL East with a 12-4 walloping of the Orioles on Saturday...Aaron Judge launched his 10th homer of the year, tying the MLB record for home runs by a rookie in April...catcher Austin Romine drove in a career high five runs...Double-A Trenton (13-8, 1st/EL Eastern) bounced back with a 7-4 win over the Eries Seawolves...Yankees No. 1 prospect Gleyber Torres launched his first HR of the year as part of a 3-for-4 day at the plate...the shortstop also doubled and drove in four...outfielder Jake Cave went 3-for-4 with an RBI in his season debut.

CATCH IT HERE: PNC Field will host the 2017 Gildan Triple-A National Championship Game on Sept. 19 at 7:07 p.m. For tickets or more information, please call 570-969-BALL (2255) or visit swbrailriders.com. The RailRiders claimed the franchise's second-ever Governors' Cup as IL champs and the team's first-ever Triple-A national title with a win over El Paso in 2016.

OFF THE RAILS: The 2016 RailRiders won the regular-season series against Indy, 5-1, including the SWB franchise's first series win at Victory Field since the SWB Yankees took three of four from May 18-21, 2010...This year's SWB squad secured series victories in consecutive seasons at Indy for the first time since winning four straight sets from 2007-10.
