Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release

The IronPigs split their doubleheader with the Toledo Mud Hens as they took game one 6-1, and fell in game two 2-1 Saturday night at Fifth Third Field.

It took 10 innings for the Toledo Mud Hens to best the IronPigs in the night cap of Saturday night's doubleheader.

Toledo would walk off to a 2-1 win as Jason Krizan scored the winning run to end the game and give the Mud Hens the game two win.

Nick Williams put the Pigs on the board in the top of the second as his RBI double scored Rhys Hoskins to give the Pigs the early 1-0 lead.

Krizan would tie the game on a sacrifice fly that scored Efren Navaro in the bottom of the seventh inning of Pigs reliever Pedro Beato who relieved Jake Thompson.

After Thompson had yet another masterful performance, unfortunately he walked two batters in the bottom of the seventh and loaded the bases to try for a game inning double play.

In all Thompson pitched 6.1 innings allowing just one run on three hits and did not factor into the decision.

In game one, Dylan Cozens capped off a four-run third inning for the IronPigs in game one when he launched a three-run home run center field to put the Pigs up 5-0 in the third. The home run was Cozens fourth of the season, and he notched his team leading 14th RBI of the young season.

The Pigs grabbed the early 1-0 lead in the first as Roman Quinn led off the game with a triple to right and later scored on a Jorge Alfaro groundout to put the Pigs up 1-0 after one.

After reaching on a force play in the top of the third, Quinn again came around to score on an Alfaro infield single to put the Pigs up 2-0. Cozens then added his three-run bomb to give the Pigs a 5-0 lead after three.

Pigs game one starter Ben Lively tossed the second complete game of the season for the Pigs as he tossed seven innings allowing just one unearned run on six hits while picking up his third win of the season.

Toledo got the unearned run in the bottom of the fifth as James Loney reached on a fielding error and came around to score on a Brendan Ryan base hit to right to make it a 5-1 Pigs lead.

J.P. Crawford then scored Cam Perkins on a RBI single to stretch the Pigs lead to 6-1.

The Pigs will go for their fifth consecutive series win Sunday afternoon at Fifth Third Park. Right-hander Ricardo Pinto (2-1, 2.28) will toe the rubber for the Pigs and the Mud Hens will counter with right-hander Warwick Saupold (0-0, 1.08).
