Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies News Release
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. â The Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies of the ECHL, a proud affiliate of the New York Islanders, have announced the signing of rookie forward Nick Economakos to a contract for the remainder of the season. Economakos is expected to be in the line-up when Atlantic City begins a season-long nine-day, five-game road trip at 7PM Friday at Johnstown.
Economakos, 24, recently completed his collegiate career at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) finishing with 30 goals and 80 points in 124 career games. The Lockport, IL native captained the Engineers to a 14-22-2 regular season record in 2004-05 before being eliminated by Brown in the first round of the ECAC playoffs last weekend. Economakos finished fourth on the club in scoring this past season with 11 goals and 28 points in 36 games.
"Nick brings good size and skill to our front line, and will be a welcome addition as we continue to fight for a playoff berth," said Bullies Head Coach Matt Thomas.
In a separate transaction, the Bullies have released forwards Riley Riddell and Joel Petkoff. Riddell was held without a point in six games with Atlantic City since being acquired from Augusta on February 25. Petkoff was scoreless in four games since signing as a free agent on March 2.
The Bullies have also placed center Fraser Clair on the 7-day injured reserve.
