Bulldogs Yannick Weber Named Starter for 2009 PlanetUSA AHL All-Star team

SPRINGFIELD, MA - The American Hockey League announced today that Hamilton Bulldogs defenceman Yannick Weber has been named as a starter for the 2009 PlanetUSA AHL All-Star team. AHL fans determined the starting lineups via on-line balloting at theahl.com, while a committee of AHL coaches selected the remainder of the rosters.

Weber, 20, is currently with the Montreal Canadiens after being recalled on January 1st but has not played in any games with the club. In his rookie season with the Bulldogs, the 5-foot-10, 195-pound blueliner leads all 'Dogs defencemen in points with 18 (eight goals, 10 assists) along with 18 penalty minutes. He leads all AHL rookie defencemen in shots with 87 and is tied for third among AHL defencemen in power-play goals with five. The native of Zurich, Switzerland was the 3rd round, 73rd overall selection of the Montreal Canadiens in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

The 2009 AHL All-Star Classic presented by Charter Communications will feature the top young talent in the American Hockey League competing in the 2009 AHL All-Star Skills Competition on Sunday, January 25 (4:00 p.m. ET), and the 2009 AHL All-Star Game on Monday, January 26 (7:00 p.m. ET). The event will be televised nationally in the United States and Canada.

The Bulldogs finish their six-game home stand on Friday, January 9th when they welcome the Lake Erie Monsters to Copps Coliseum for a 7:30 p.m. match-up. Fans can listen to every 'Dogs game on the flagship station of the Hamilton Bulldogs Hockey Network, TALK 820. Fans can also listen or watch at www.hamiltonbulldogs.com by clicking on the 'AHL Live' or 'TALK 820' icons on the Bulldogs website. All regular-season radio and online broadcasts will begin with a pre-game show 30 minutes prior to each scheduled game-time.
