Manitoba Moose News Release

Scoreless through 40 minutes of play, the Moose notched two in the final frame and one in overtime to steal two points from the Hartford Wolf Pack in a 3-2 victory on Wednesday night. Jason Krog scored his ninth of the season, Jannik Hansen notched his first with the Moose and Nolan Baumgartner netted the game winner with 1.7 seconds left in overtime. Cory Schneider stopped 33 of 35 shots earning third star honors and extending his winning streak to 11 games, the longest for a goaltender in franchise history.

After an 11 game stint with the parent Vancouver Canucks, goaltender Cory Schneider resumed his goaltending duties for the Manitoba Moose, opposite Hartford's Miika Wiikman.

It only took two minutes for the Moose to list their first penalty of the night when Mark Cullen was dealt a tripping infraction. A collection of misdirected shots and solid defense kept the shot count at three, letting the penalty expire without a change in score.

Consecutive Wolf Pack penalties put Manitoba's powerplay unit to work in the latter half of the first period, but like the visitors, the Moose were unable to capitalize on their opening man-advantages.

Hartford benefited from their second five-on-four 2:49 into the second stanza, when Mark Cullen was penalized for boarding. The Wolf Pack extended their shot lead, 15-11, on the man-advantage but couldn't crack Schneider for the game-opening goal.

Near the mid-way point of the game, the visitors broke into the Moose zone resulting in a goal. For the second night in a row, Mike Ouellette slapped the puck between Schneider's glove and left goal post to put his club up by one.

The third period saw instant scoring action from the Moose, when Zack FitzGerald's initial slap shot was tipped in by Jason Krog to knot the game at one. Directly after the goal, FitzGerald was put away for four-minutes, guilty of tripping and unsportsmanlike conduct.

With 50 seconds left on the powerplay and on their 26th shot of the night the Wolf Pack notched their second, this time courtesy of Brodie Dupont, to put them back on top, 2-1.

Thirty seconds later, Jannik Hansen broke through both visiting defenseman and notched his first Moose goal of the season, going top shelf on Wiikman, to tie things up at two.

With acrobatic saves courtesy of Schneider, the Moose were trailing in shots 20-31 but still maintained their tie to force overtime.
