
Ottawa Recalls Defenseman Matt Carkner

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Ottawa Senators recalled today defenseman Matt Carkner from the Binghamton Senators of the American Hockey League.
Carkner, 28, has scored one goal and added 10 assists while recording 70 penalty minutes in 24 games this season with Binghamton. The native of Winchester, Ont., is in his second season with the B-Sens, after recording 10 goals, 15 assists and 218 penalty minutes in 67 AHL games in 2007-08.
He has played in one career National Hockey League game, recording an assist and two penalty minutes for the San Jose Sharks in a 4-3 home loss to the Calgary Flames on Feb. 6, 2006.
Carkner appeared in two pre-season games for Ottawa this season, recording no points and seven penalty minutes. In one pre-season game in 2007-08, he recorded five penalty minutes.
The B-Sens return to the ice on Friday, Jan 9 for an East Division showdown with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at 7:05 p.m.
