Wolves Motzko Selected to AHL PlanetUSA All-Star Team

Chicago Wolves right wing JOE MOTZKO (MAWTS-koh) has been selected to the PlanetUSA All-Star Team for the 2009 American Hockey League All-Star Classic, presented by Charter Communications, which will take place at the DCU Center in Worcester, Mass., on Jan. 25 and Jan. 26.

MOTZKO paces the Wolves and shares second in the AHL with 23 goals and leads the club and shares 13th in the league with 36 points in 37 outings this season. The 28-year-old forward also ranks first on the team and holds second in the league with 10 power-play markers and has tallied nine points (7G, 2A) in his last eight games, which includes potting a goal in seven straight outings from Dec. 19 to Jan. 2, matching the longest goal-scoring streak in the AHL this season. This marks the third straight season MOTZKO has been named to the PlanetUSA All-Star team.

The Bemidji, Minn., native was a member of Chicago's 2008 Calder Cup Championship team and has posted 150 goals and 339 points in 388 career AHL games and five points (3G, 2A) in 19 career National Hockey League outings, which includes recording NHL career-highs with two goals and four points in eight contests with the Washington Capitals last season.
