
Bulldogs Win Fifth Straight 2-1 In Overtime

Toronto, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs defeated the Toronto Marlies 2-1 in overtime on Saturday night. The win was the Bulldogs 49th of the season tying a franchise record for most wins in a season.
Following a scoreless first period, Hamilton got on the scoreboard first at 6:28 of the middle stanza. David Desharnais received the puck from T.J. Kemp before skating to the top of the right faceoff circle. Desharnais released a shot that sailed past Toronto starting goaltender Adam Munro.
With 12 seconds remaining in the game, the Marlies tied the score 1-1. Bates Battaglia received a pass from Darryl Boyce while positioned in the slot. Battaglia rifled a shot that beat Hamilton starting goaltender Cedrick Desjardins over the left shoulder.
With the score tied, the game went into overtime. David Desharnais grabbed the puck in front of the Toronto net and faked a shot before feeding a pass to Mathieu Carle, who was stationed in the slot. Carle blasted a one-timer shot that beat Munro to win the game for Hamilton.
The Bulldogs open the 2009 Calder Cup playoffs at home on Friday, April 17th when they welcome the Grand Rapids Griffins to Copps Coliseum for Game 1 of their seven-game series.
