Hamilton Bulldogs News Release

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Hamilton Bulldogs forward Daniel Carr notched his team-leading 21st goal of the season with just over a minute to play in regulation to lift the 'Dogs (30-23-9-0) to an eventual 4-2 win over the Rochester Americans (25-30-5-1) on Friday evening at Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, N.Y.

Rochester forward Kevin Sundher opened the scoring just over five minutes into the first period, assisted by forwards Evan Rankin and Allan McPherson.

With six minutes to go in the opening frame, Bulldogs forward Eric Tangradi took a couple of whacks at a loose puck in the Americans' crease before notching his 11th goal of the season on the power play. Defenceman Davis Drewiske and forward T.J. Hensick collected assists.

Less than two minutes later, Hamilton forward Christian Thomas one-timed a rebound from the back boards past Rochester goaltender Andrey Makarov for his 10th tally of the year to give the 'Dogs a 2-1 lead. Again, Drewiske and Hensick had the helpers.

After a scoreless second period, Americans forward Mikhail Grigorenko tied the game 2-2 midway through the third period with a wrist shot from the top of the left circle. McPherson had the only assist.

With 1:19 to go, with the Bulldogs on the power play, Carr was perched in front of the Amerks goal when he kicked a loose puck to his stick and backhanded the eventual game-winning goal past Makarov. Forward Sven Andrighetto and defenceman Morgan Ellis notched assists.

Hamilton forward Jake Dowell potted his fourth goal of the season into an empty net with 21 seconds to go to seal the game for the 'Dogs, 4-2. Forward Gabriel Dumont had the only helper on the play.

Joey MacDonald made 26 saves on 28 shots for the Bulldogs in the win, while Makarov stopped 28 of 31 shots faced for the Americans in the loss.

Hamilton went 2-for-3 on the power play, while Rochester was 0-for-6 with a man advantage.
