
Crunch Sign Charlie Dodero to AHL Pact

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse Crunch have signed defenseman Charlie Dodero to an AHL contract, Crunch general manager Julien BriseBois announced today. Dodero joined the Crunch Jan. 16 on a professional tryout agreement.
Dodero, 22, has played 21 games with the Crunch this season, collecting one goal, four points, 52 penalty minutes and a plus-4 rating. His game-winning goal Feb. 6 against Hartford propelled the Crunch past the division rival Wolf Pack.
The second-year pro played 33 games with the Idaho Steelheads (ECHL) earlier this season, registering 12 points (3g, 9a), 81 penalty minutes, 49 shots on goal and a plus-1 rating. He had three multi-point performances with Idaho, including two assists and the game-winning goal Nov. 11 versus the Ontario Reign.
Dodero hails from Bloomingdale, Illinois, stands 6 feet 2 inches, weighs 201 pounds and shoots right.
Dodero split his first professional season between two ECHL teams, the Greenville Road Warriors- two assists in 14 games- and Idaho- 19 points (4g, 15a) in 44 games. He played an additional 11 contests in the Kelly Cup Playoffs for Idaho, posting five points (1g, 4a).
In four seasons of junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League, Dodero totaled 69 points (11g, 58a) in 248 games with the Sudbury Wolves and Kitchener Rangers. His head coach in Sudbury was Trent Cull, current Crunch assistant coach.
Dodero participated in Texas Stars training camp in 2014 and New York Rangers/Hartford Wolf Pack camp in 2013.
