Grand Rapids Griffins News Release

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Detroit Red Wings on Friday reassigned goaltender Jared Coreau from the ECHL's Toledo Walleye to the Grand Rapids Griffins.

A native of Perth, Ontario, Coreau ranks eighth among AHL goaltenders with a 2.15 goals against average, coupled with a 13-6-1 record and a 0.926 save percentage. The 23-year-old goaltender is currently on a seven-game winning streak with the Griffins, including back-to-back shutouts against the Iowa Wild on Jan. 29 (6-0) and the Milwaukee Admirals on Jan. 30 (3-0). The streak is one game longer than the six-game winning streak he ran to begin the season, which tied a Griffins franchise record for the most consecutive wins to begin a season.

In addition to his time with Grand Rapids, the 6-foot-5, 230-pound Coreau has played in eight games with the Walleye, recording a 5-2-0 record, a 3.01 GAA and a 0.897 save percentage. In his latest stint with Toledo, Coreau earned a 44-save victory over Elmira on March 6 and appeared in a relief effort against Reading on March 8.

The Griffins will host the Rockford IceHogs on Saturday at 8 p.m., as Grand Rapids looks to extend its franchise record-setting 17-game point streak.
