
Bulldogs lose to Penguins

WILKES-BARRE, PA - The Hamilton Bulldogs played there third consecutive game in as many nights on the road, and lost 6-1 to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Sunday at Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza.
The Bulldogs record through 19 games now stands at six wins, nine losses, three overtime losses and one overtime loss. Hamilton has lost their last eight contests.
The Penguins jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period with goals from Chris Kelleher (6:27) and Guillaume Lefebvre (15:15).
Before the end of the first period, at the 18:31 mark, Bulldogs captain Jason Ward scored a power-play goal. Assists went to Tomas Plekanec and Marc-Andre Thinel. Prior to Ward's goal, the Bulldogs had went scoreless on their past 23 power play opportunities.
The second period saw the Penguins score four unanswered goals. Earning goals for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton were Ross Lupaschuk, Shane Endicott, Colby Armstrong and Kris Beech.
Bulldogs goaltender Yann Danis was pulled after Endicott's goal at the 10:51 mark of the second period. Through 30:51 of action, Danis faced 17 shots and had 13 saves. Dan Ellis went the rest of the way for the Bulldogs and stopped six of eight shots.
Penguins goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury picked up his fifth win on the season by making 23 saves.
The Bulldogs did manage to tie a team record in the contest, as they allowed just one shot on goal in the third period. Hamilton last allowed only one shot on goal in a period at Hershey on February 6, 2002 (First Period).
Hamilton scored once on seven power play opportunities. The Penguins did not score on three opportunities with the man-advantage
