Hamilton Bulldogs News Release

ROCHESTER, NY - The Hamilton Bulldogs lost their record setting seventh game in a row on Saturday night, as they were edged 3-1 by the Rochester Americans at the Blue Cross Arena.

The Bulldogs last victory came on Friday, November 5th when they defeated the Cleveland Barons 3-1 at Copps Coliseum.

Hamilton's record through 18 games now stands at six wins, eight losses, three overtime losses and one shootout loss.

The Amerks opened the game's scoring just 2:40 into the first period, as Jason Pominville took a pass from Chris Taylor, and one-timed a shot past Bulldogs goaltender Dan Ellis. Rochester's Derek Roy picked up the other assist on the power play goal.

Roy then gave Rochester a 2-0 lead at 2:20 of the second period. Nathan Paetsch and Pominville earned assists on Roy's fifth goal of the season.

Despite plenty of scoring chances the Bulldogs did not score a goal through the first two periods of play.

However, it took the Bulldogs exactly just one minute into the third period to get on the scoreboard. Defenceman Trevor Daley scored his first Bulldogs goal by taking a high shot that beat the glove hand of Amerks goaltender Ryan Miller. Forward Steve Ott tallied the lone assist on the goal. Daley's goal would be all the scoring the Bulldogs would receive.

Michael Ryan would add an insurance goal for the Amerks with just 1:26 remaining in regulation time, to give Rochester the 3-1 victory.

In goal, Bulldogs goaltender Dan Ellis stopped 28 shots and took the loss. Amerks goaltender Ryan Miller picked up the win by making 29 saves.

The Bulldogs were 0 for 2 on the power play, while Rochester scored once on their only power play opportunity.

Bulldogs defenceman Ron Hainsey returned to the lineup after missing Friday night's game in Syracuse with a knee injury.

The Bulldogs will face the Amerks once again in Rochester on Wednesday, November 26th.

The Hamilton Bulldogs next action will take place on Sunday afternoon, as the Bulldogs travel to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to face the Penguins. Bulldogs fans can listen to Derek Wils call all the action, beginning with the pre-game show at 4:50 p.m., on 820 CHAM in Hamilton, on The Team 990 in Montreal and on-line at www.hamiltonbulldogs.com
