Bulldogs Have a December to Remember

The Hamilton Bulldogs concluded the month of December and the 2002 year with a 6-3 victory over the St. John's Maple Leafs at Copps Coliseum on Sunday. December marked the Bulldogs' best month in franchise history as they earned a record of 12 wins, 0 losses, 2 ties and 1 overtime loss for a total of 27 points. Hamilton earned at least one point in each of the team's 15 December games.

The Bulldogs will look to continue their success in the New Year as they play two games this week. Hamilton will host the Binghamton Senators for the first time ever on Thursday, January 2nd at 7:00 p.m. at Copps Coliseum. The Bulldogs will conclude the week when they travel to Albany to take on the River Rats on Friday, January 3rd for a 7:00 p.m. contest.

TOP ‘DOGS:

WARD NAMED SHER-WOOD AHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK:

The American Hockey League announced today that Hamilton Bulldogs right win! ger Jason Ward has been named the Sher-Wood AHL Player of the Week for the period ending December 29, 2002. In three games, Ward recorded three goals and six assists for nine points, along with a plus-7 rating, helping the Bulldogs extend its unbeaten streak to 13 games.

BULLDOGS LOOK TO EXTEND UNBEATEN STREAK TO FOURTEEN GAMES:

The Hamilton Bulldogs will try to extend their franchise record setting unbeaten streak to fourteen games when they host Binghamton on Thursday. During the unbeaten streak, which began with a 2-1 win over Cleveland on December 6th, the Bulldogs have outscored their opponents 60 – 22.

BULLDOGS CONTINUE TO HAVE SUCCESS ON THE ROAD:

The Bulldogs stretched their road winning streak to ten games when they defeated the Rochester Americans 6-4 on Friday night at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester. Previously the Bulldogs longest road winning streak was five games (Last time: Dec. 20, 1999 to Jan. 15, 1999)

HAMILTON STRONG ON OFFENCE AND DEFENCE:

The Hamilton Bulldogs have been strong at both ends of the ice this season. Benoit Gratton (19g-35a-54pts) and Jason Ward (19g-32a-51pts) are first and second in AHL scoring, respectively. While in goal, Mathieu Garon (1.99 G.A.A.) and Ty Conklin (2.14 G.A.A.) are ranked first and third in the lowest goals against average category.

MANY BULLDOGS' TOPS IN PLUS/MINUS:

The Hamilton Bulldogs have many players among the AHL leaders in plus/minus category. Bulldogs' defenceman Francois Beauchemin leads the way with a (+24) rating, and is followed by teammates Jason Ward (+23), Benoit Gratton (+23) and Marc-Andre Bergeron (+20).

BULLDOGS ON 820 CHAM!

Hamilton Bulldogs fans can listen to all the Bulldogs home and road action this season on Hamilton's 820 CHAM-AM. Derek Wills provides all the play-by-play, while Hamilton radio personality Al Craig is the colour commentator for all home games and select road games.
