
Bulldogs Crush IceCaps 4-1

Hamilton, Ontario - The Hamilton Bulldogs defeated the St. John's IceCaps 4-1 on Friday night at Copps Coliseum. Philippe Lefebvre notched two goals and Nathan Beaulieu added three assists.
The opening frame was scoreless with the IceCaps outshooting the Bulldogs 10-3.
The Bulldogs opened the scoring at 5:27 of the second stanza on a goal by Lefebvre. Michael Bournival put a shot on net which was stopped by St. John's IceCaps starting goaltender Juho Olkinuora. Beaulieu tried a rebound which was stopped before Lefebvre buried the puck into the empty net.
Hamilton grabbed a 2-0 lead at 7:33 of the second period on a shorthanded goal by Louis Leblanc. Beaulieu took a shot from the left point which deflected off of Petteri Nokelainen in front of the net right to Leblanc in the slot who put the puck past Olkinuora.
Greg Pateryn notched a power-play tally at 16:07 of the second frame as he received a pass at the point from Charles Hudon and rifled a shot over the shoulder of Olkinuora.
The IceCaps got on the board at 7:24 of the third period as Zach Redmond slid the puck to Josh Lunden at the right point who blasted a shot which flew through Hamilton Bulldogs starting goaltender Robert Mayer.
Lefebvre added an empty netter at 17:34 of the third period for his second goal of the evening.
The Bulldogs' next game is against the Americans in Rochester tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. All 'Dogs games will be broadcast on Hamilton's Funny 820 (AM 820).
