
Bruins ready for big weekend

The Providence Bruins begin a key weekend of three games against Atlantic Division rivals on Friday, April 1 at 7:35 p.m. (WDDZ AM-550, www.providencebruins.com), when they face off with the Manchester Monarchs at the Verizon Wireless Arena. The Bruins also visit the Lowell Lock Monsters on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m., before returning home to host Manchester on Sunday, April 3 at 4:05 p.m. The Bruins have won three straight, including a critical 5-4 decision in Worcester on Wednesday night. The win improved the team's record to 35-26-3-7 (80 points), putting them in fourth place in the division, four points ahead of Worcester.
Bruin left wing Andy Hilbert continues to be a critical force in the lineup, as he has points (3-2-5) in three straight games. The 24-year-old native of Howell, Michigan tallied his 34th and 35th goals of the season on Wednesday, equaling his career-high in goals, previously set during the 2002-03 season. He ranks sixth in AHL scoring with 35-41-76 totals in 71 games, representing a new career-high for points, and is tied for second in league goal scoring, and fourth in power play goals (16). Hilbert is the Bruins' all-time leader in goals (99), assists (108) and points (207).
