(Rochester, NY)... Rochester Americans General Manager Jody Gage announced today that the team is bringing in left wing Ryan Bennett from the Adirondack Frostbite of the United Hockey League (UHL).

Bennett, 6-0, 190, is making his first trip to the American Hockey League. The Queensbury, NY, native is tied for fifth on the Frostbite with 57 points (22+35) in 70 games. In addition, Bennett is tied for third among rookie point producers and earlier this season he was named to the 2005 UHL All-Star Classic.

Prior to going pro, the 23 year old played three years of college hockey. In 2001-02, he was a member of the Lake Superior State Lakers of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA). The next two seasons, he played for the University of Nebraska-Omaha (CCHA) (2002-2004). During the 2003-04 campaign, he played three games with Adirondack and recorded two assists.

This season he plays for the Eastern Division leading Frostbite. Adirondack has 100 points (46-20-8) in 74 games and has clinched a playoff berth.

Bennett will join the Amerks for Friday's 7:35 p.m. game against the Cleveland Barons at The Blue Cross Arena at the Rochester War Memorial. The contest is the seventh of eight meetings between the two North Division foes. That night, the Amerks will wear their Stars and Stripes jerseys and auction them off in a silent auction to benefit FOODLINK.
