River Rats to Celebrate 10th Anniversary of 1995 Calder Cup title on Friday

Albany N.Y. - The Albany River Rats announced today plans to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the 1995 Calder Cup championship victory at Friday's 7:00 p.m. game against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at Pepsi Arena. Former players, team staff and the Calder Cup will be in attendance in recognition of the American Hockey League club's first championship.

The festivities are scheduled to include appearances by former River Rats including Geordie Kinnear and Scott Pellerin along with John Hennessy, the franchise's original play-by-play voice. Current head coach Robbie Ftorek and captain Pascal Rheaume were also member of the championship team, which clinched the championship against the Fredericton Canadiens on May 26, 1995.

Fans will be able to obtain autographs from the returning River Rats during intermission and will have the opportunity to win authentic 1995 team photos, plus copies of the official championship video, "No Practice Tomorrow". The Calder Cup will be on display at the game and available on the concourse for pictures with fans throughout the night.

The evening begins with a pre-game party at Broadway Joe's in front of Pepsi Arena from 5:00 -7:00 p.m. featuring former New Jersey Devil and River Rat Tommy Albelin along with an appearance by The Labatts Girls. There will be drink specials along with prize giveaways and more during the pre-game party.

The Albany River Rats, in their 12th season as a member of the American Hockey League, are owned and operated by Capital District Sports Inc., and serve as the primary affiliate of the National Hockey League's New Jersey Devils.
