Swift Current Broncos News Release

Regina, Sask. - The Swift Current Broncos (3-12-1-0) were in the fight against the Prince Albert Raiders (5-8-2-1) all night long, but found themselves on the wrong end of a 4-2 score Sunday night.

Michael Farren looked poised to open the scoring in the first period, but Max Paddock reached back with the paddle of his stick and took a goal away from the Broncos forward to keep the game scoreless.

The first period ended shortly after a scrap at centre ice between Eric Houk and Reece Vitelli, as Vitelli took exception to a reverse hit by Houk on Ozzy Wiesblatt.

Both teams were given penalty shots in the second with Farren getting one while shorthanded. After racing down the ice for a loose puck, Farren lifted the stick of Justin Nachbaur and cut across the crease before being hauled down.

On the penalty shot, Farren pulled the puck to his backhand but was stopped by the blocker of Paddock. Less then three minutes later, Evan Herman was tripped on a breakaway and was stopped by the left pad of Reid Dyck on his penalty shot.

Prince Albert opened the scoring off a faceoff in the Broncos zone. After Eric Pearce's shot was stopped, Michael Horon chopped the rebound in with 2:35 left in the period.

Josh Filmon hit the post in the final minutes of the second period as well, with the rebound off that chance bouncing over the stick of Braeden Lewis who was staring at a wide-open net.

Swift Current tied the game on the power play in the third period off a nice passing play. Farren sent the puck from the right point to the goal line for Aiden Bulych who quickly fired it to the slot for Cole Nagy who one timed home his third of the year.

The game didn't remain tied long as Landon Kosior scored on a Raider power play three minutes later to restore the lead, before Herman finished off a two-on-one rush to put Prince Albert ahead 3-1.

Mathew Ward cut into the Raiders lead following a turnover behind the Raiders net, but Prince Albert would hit the empty net with Dyck on the bench for the extra attacker.

The Broncos are off for the next two days until a 4:00 game against the Saskatoon Blades on Wednesday.
