Quotes
"It was a real good start and we kept going from there. We had some great efforts from a couple guys and obviously with Lucas [Gore] going down [Kent Simpson] had to come in cold and I thought he was outstanding for the rest of the game. Both Gore and Simpson deserved the shutout because their compete level was so good." - Head Coach Rich Kromm on his team's compete level and all-around effort.
"I think [Mario Larocque] was feeling good tonight. He was really looking forward to playing tonight because his body felt good before the game and it showed in the way he played. He played an aggressive and physical game early and it really set the tone." - Coach Kromm on Mario Larocque's effort tonight.
"It was a great heads-up pass by Carter [Rigby] to find [Kyle] Brodie in the high slot and Kyle was just real patient and outwaited the goaltender to score on the backhand. It was a pretty goal and it was nice to see Brodie show that kind of poise in just his second game." - Coach Kromm on Brodie's game-winning goal.
"I think it's just the way it has happened this year. Any team we play against, I'm trying to score goals, but sometimes the shooting lanes just aren't there. But so far it seems like I've had success in this building and we'll see if we can keep it going this Friday." - Mario Larocque on all three of his goals this season coming against the Condors in Bakersfield.
"I was feeling good out there. It's been awhile since I've felt that good out there because I've been struggling with some injuries here and there. When I feel good out there, I always like to throw the body around to get the boys going and tonight it worked out." - Larocque on his physical play and finally feeling healthy.
"They were really good. Simpson made a couple huge saves for us down the stretch in the third. Any time your goalie gives you a chance it win it's awesome." - Larocque on both Gore and Simpson's play in net tonight.
"I'll definitely never forget it. It was something where I was just in the right spot at the right time, but I'll take it and remember it forever. I saw it was a 2-on-2 and [Carter] Rigby was driving it wide. I saw the opening in the middle and he made a great pass to get it to me." - Kyle Brodie on his first pro goal.
"I felt much better defensively than I did in the first game. I'm getting a lot more comfortable and I can see Garrett [Ladd] and Carter doing that too. They're both playing great for us on the front end. For me, playing with Mike Busillo has been an easy transition. He has made it easy for me out there and I just have to stay on the defensive side and jump in when I have the right opportunities." - Brodie on his comfort level with the pro game after two games.
"It's a special feeling that's for sure. We played really well in the first two periods and the third was a little shaky, but overall it's so much fun. The first pro win is something I'll never forget." - Brodie on being a part of his first ever pro win.
"Gore and Simpson were both huge for us tonight. Lucas made an unreal save in the first on that 2-on-1 and Simpson saved my bacon on a play in the third. Those guys really were the reason we won tonight." - Brodie on the goalies' play tonight.
