Kansas City Brigade News Release

Kansas City, Mo. (Feb. 26) - The overhaul of the Brigade from its inaugural season has come to fruition as head coach Kevin Porter and his staff have finalized the roster for the 2007 opener this Sunday against the defending champion Chicago Rush. While decisions still have to be made about Injured Reserve and the Practice Squad, there are 27 players on the initial roster. Twenty of them will be active on game days.

Only 10 players who finished 2006 with the team are on the current roster, all of whom started games during the season. The remaining 17 players include seven free agents and 10 rookies. The roster breaks down by position as such:

- QB 2

- FB 1

- WR 6

- OL 5

- DL 5

- LB 2

- DB 5

- K 1

Former Chiefs quarterback Jonathan Quinn was waived due to an undisclosed injury, leaving Ray Philyaw and Mike Bishop as the starter and backup, respectively. Several notable holdovers and free agents were released in the final week of training camp, including linemen Gillis Wilson and Dan Koons and fullback Robert Thomas.

About the moves, Executive Director Brad Likens said, "They are great people on and off the field, and we wish them nothing but the best. It's unfortunate that we couldn't fit everyone on the squad that we wanted, but we can't say how excited we are with the players we do have, and are looking forward to an exciting season."
