Bridgeport Islanders News Release

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - CJ Stretch scored the shootout winner and Kevin Poulin made 36 saves to propel the Sound Tigers to a 4-3 win on Sunday afternoon at Webster Bank Arena.

After a scoreless seven minutes of overtime, the game went into a shootout. Albany's Paul Thompson and Sound Tigers Kevin Mouillierat both scored in the early rounds, but it took until the fifth round for Stretch to notch the game winner.

Scooter Vaughan got the scoring started with a solo job as he fired the puck past Devils netminder Scott Clemmensen early in the first. The Devils got a goal back late in the second, as Mike Sislo scored on the power play with just 18 seconds left to tie the game at one.

Albany found themselves on the power play again early in the third and capitalized again, this time thanks to Tim Sestito and gained their first lead of the weekend. However, Alan Quine answered back for Bridgeport, scoring on the PP to make it 2-2.

It looked as if Harry Zolnierczyk had won the game for Bridgeport with a gorgeous tip-in off a Mike Halmo pass midway through the third, but Graham Black notched a power play goal to knot the game up again at 3-3.

After no scoring in the overtime and shootout, the Sound Tigers fell behind early in the skills competition as Paul Thompson fired a shot high glove to make it 1-0 Devils. It was then Mouillierat and Stretch who won the game for the Sound Tigers, each beating Clemmensen low to the blocker.

Poulin made 36 saves in the victory and has helped his team to a point in his last seven starts. The Sound Tigers power play, which was so good last night, went just 1-for-5 today. The Devils, however, went 3-for-6 with the man-advantage.

Notes: Kevin Poulin received his fourth straight win with today's victory over the Albany Devils while Quine is on a three-game goal streak...Harry Zolnierczyk got the third star of the game and Poulin earned the first star.
