
Bridgeport Sound Tigers Open Training Camp

BRIDGEPORT, CT â The American Hockey League's 2001-02 Regular Season Champion and Eastern Conference Playoff Champion Bridgeport Sound Tigers will open training camp for the 2002-03 season this week. 29 players are on the training camp roster including ten who skated for the Sound Tigers at some point last season: Graham Belak, Marco Charpentier, Matt Higgins, Konstantin Kalmikov, Juraj Kolnik, Evgeny Korolev, Tomi Pettinen, Daniel Tetrault, David St. Germain and Steve Valiquette.
The Sound Tigers will practice at the Milford Ice Pavilion Tuesday through Friday. All sessions will be open to the public free of charge. They will also play a pair of preseason games Saturday at 7:05 p.m. on the road versus the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and Sunday at 4 p.m. versus the Philadelphia Phantoms at the Milford Ice Pavilion. Tickets for Sunday's game are on sale at the Milford Ice Pavilion with information available by calling 203-878-6516.
The schedule for the first week of training camp is as follows:
Tuesday October 1st, practice at the Milford Ice Pavilion, 10:30 a.m.
Wednesday October 2nd, practice at the Milford Ice Pavilion, 10:30 a.m.
Thursday October 3rd, practice at the Milford Ice Pavilion, 10:30 a.m.
Friday October 4th, practice at the Milford Ice Pavilion, 10:30 a.m.
Saturday October 5th, preseason game at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, 7:05 p.m.
Sunday October 6th, preseason game vs. Philadelphia at the Milford Ice Pavilion, 4 p.m.
The Sound Tigers beat the Worcester IceCats 3-1 Friday at the Danbury Ice Arena and tied them 2-2 Sunday in Fitchburg, Massachusetts in preseason games this past weekend.
The Sound Tigers will open the 2002-03 regular season when they visit the first-year Binghamton Senators on Friday, October 11th and host the Norfolk Admirals on Saturday, October 12th at 7:05 p.m.

"The Zone" 1300 AM WAVZ will broadcast all Sound Tigers' games and "The Sound Tiger Report" Tuesdays from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. during the regular season. In addition, all Sound Tigers' games will be broadcast live on the Internet at www.soundtigers.com, and WSTC/WNLK 1400/1350 AM will broadcast road games this regular season.
