
Monarchs Roster Expands By Three

EL SEGUNDO, CA- Three players, including one that appeared in every game for the Manchester Monarchs during their inaugural season, have been assigned to Manchester by the National Hockey League's Los Angeles Kings.
Assigned to the Monarchs were center Jared Aulin (AW-lihn), left wing Michael Cammalleri (CAM-a-lar-ee), and defenseman Joe Corvo. The Kings 2002 preseason roster consists of 32 players (20 forwards, nine defensemen and three goaltenders) after the latest round of cuts.
Corvo, 25, winner of the 2001-02 Ace Bailey MVP award, collected 13 goals, 37 assists, and 50 points in 80 games with the Monarchs last year. The 6-foot, 205-pound native of Oak Park, IL also registered 30 penalty minutes.
Aulin, 20, a native of Calgary, Alberta, collected 33 goals, 34 assists, and 67 points in 46 games for the Kamloops Blazers of the Western Hockey League last year. The second round draft pick of the Colorado Avalanche during the 2000 NHL Entry Draft also totaled 80 penalty minutes.
Cammalleri, 20, amassed 23 goals, 20 assists, and 43 points in 28 games with the University of Michigan, leading the Wolverines to the 2002 Frozen Four in St. Paul, MN. The 5-foot-9, 180-pound native of Richmond Hill, Ontario also accumulated 24 penalty minutes. The Kings selected Cammalleri in the second round of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
The Monarchs open their 2002 exhibition schedule tonight with a contest against the Springfield Falcons. The game is set to begin at 6:00 p.m. at the Springfield Civic Center in Springfield, MA. The Monarchs are also scheduled to host the Portland Pirates at the Tri-Town Arena in Hooksett, NH on Wednesday, October 2 at 7:00 p.m., and they travel to Lewiston, ME to meet the Portland Pirates at the Central Maine Civic Center on Friday, October 4 at 7:05 p.m. The Monarchs conclude their preseason schedule by traveling to Lowell, MA to meet the Lowell Lock Monsters at the Salem Ice Center on Saturday, October 5. Saturday's game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
The Monarchs begin their second season when they renew their rivalry with the Lowell Lock Monsters on Friday, October 11. The puck drops at 7:35 p.m.
