Bridgeport Islanders News Release

HARTFORD, Conn. - Dustin Jeffrey and Matt Carkner both scored, but the Bridgeport Sound Tigers dropped a 3-2 decision to the Hartford Wolf Pack on Friday night at XL Center.

Oscar Lindberg got the scoring started 5:05 into the contest. Chris Bourque walked his way around the top of the circle and fired a shot towards the Sound Tigers net. Lindberg redirected the shot for his 27 th of the season to give the Wolf Pack the 1-0 lead.

After the teams traded unsuccessful power plays, Jeffrey tied the game late in the first period for Bridgeport. Colin Markison drew the penalty and Jeffrey finished it off, slamming home the initial shot from Ryan Pulock to tie the game with 16.8 seconds left in the opening frame. Kael Mouillierat and Pulock earned the assists on Jeffrey's team leading 24 th of the season.

Despite giving up just six shots in the second period, the Wolf Pack took a 3-1 advantage in the middle frame. First it was Joey Crabb with some impressive hand-eye coordination to deflect a puck out of mid-air and past Sound Tigers goaltender C.J. Motte to regain the lead.

Then with just over five minutes left in the period, Marek Hrivik turned around and flung a pass towards the Bridgeport net. The puck went off the skate of center Alan Quine and trickled over the line to give Hartford the two-goal lead. That goal would hold up to be the game-winner.

The Sound Tigers had a response to Hrivik's goal, as Carkner scored two minutes later. Like nearly every other goal on the night, Carkner's point shot was deflected in front and eluded Wolf Pack goalie Yann Danis to make it 3-2. The goal was Carkner's second of the season, with assists coming from Johan Sundstrom and Chris Langkow.

Hartford had a chance to get an insurance goal in the waning seconds of the second period, but Motte shut the door. The best chance came on a breakaway for J.T. Brown but Motte flashed the right pad to hold the score at 3-2.

The Sound Tigers outshot the Wolf Pack 11-3 in the final stanza and 32-16 for the game, but the Wolf Pack escaped with the 3-2 win. Motte made 13 stops in the game, as all three goals came off deflections. Danis made 30 for the win.

The Sound Tigers head to Syracuse for their final road game of the season when they take on the Crunch. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.

Notes: Two of the Wolf Pack goals came on delayed penalties...Calder Brooks made his AHL debut for the Sound Tigers...Bridgeport's power play went 1-for-4 while Hartford went 0-for-3.
