Toronto Marlies Clinch Playoff Spot for Fourth Straight Season

April 17, 2015 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Toronto Marlies News Release

The Toronto Marlies will be in competition for the Calder Cup for the fourth straight season, clinching a playoff spot with the Hamilton Bulldogs loss tonight. After a difficult November which saw the Marlies in last place in the North Division with a 5-12-2-0 record, Toronto has compiled a record of 32-15-7-0 (.657 win %) moving into second in the division. Currently in eighth place in the Western Conference, the Marlies have two remaining games to improve their playoff positioning. Marlies General Manager Kyle Dubas had the following to say,

"The Marlies were a team that many wrote off and left for dead at many different points this season. What the entire group has been able to accomplish, working its way from last place back to a playoff spot, with the youngest roster in the American Hockey League, has been wonderful to watch. As exciting as this has been to watch for management, it should serve to excite the city of Toronto and Maple Leaf fans everywhere knowing what this group of young Maple Leaf prospects were able to accomplish this spring".

While their first round series is yet to be determined, Toronto will draw one of Utica, Grand Rapids, San Antonio or Rockford as their first round opponent. They currently hold a record of 9-7-1-0 combined against those teams this season. Once available, first round playoff ticket information and scheduling will be released.
