Most professional athletes have joked in the past when their likeness is transformed into a "bobble head figure." Well, last week at Camden Yards in Baltimore, MD when a recent shipment of Brian Roberts Bobbleheads was delivered, team officials knew something was wrong. This was no joke.
Roberts, who is white, had dark skin and it was not just a deep tan. "It didn't look like Brian Roberts. The coloring was wrong," stated Orioles Director of Media Relations & Publications, Bill Stetka. The team returned the entire shipment of 20,000 Roberts dolls, which they had planned to hand out Saturday, July 15 game against the Texas Rangers. Instead all fans that attended the game received vouchers that can be used to pick up more B-Rob Bobblehead dolls at Camden Yards after Sept. 1.
The Class "A" Affiliate of the O's, The Delmarva Shorebirds have made no mistakes with their very own Brian Roberts Bobblehead Giveaway, scheduled on Sunday, August 27th courtesy of Dealers Building Supply.
From skin tone to his signature smile, to his tapered pants tight-tucked into his Nike cleats, Your 'Birds have their bases covered. The Orioles spark plug will be forever immortalized as a miniature Shorebirds Player as the B-Rob Bobblehead will be donning the #3 Shorebirds Jersey that Roberts wore when it all started down here on the Farm Team.
"We may be the Minor Leagues but we do promotions in a Major way!" Shorebirds General Manger, STEPHEN YAROS stated. "We saw an opportunity to set the Brian Roberts BobbleHead Record Straight, so we stepped to the plate! So, if you didn't get your Brian Roberts BobbleHead in Baltimore, come visit us in Delmarva!" Yaros added.
