Rome, GA - The Rome Braves used a four run seventh inning to beat the Greenville Drive in comeback fashion in front of 2,743 fans on a muggy July night at State Mutual Stadium.

The Drive struck first in the top of the third inning as first baseman Matt Mercurio reached first on a drag bunt and later advanced to second on a single by catcher Mitch Stachowsky. Christian Lara would then rip a double Just out of the reach of left fielder Quentin Davis moving Stachowsky to third and plating Mercurio giving the Drive the lead 1-0. Leadoff hitter Mickey Hall would finish the scoring in the inning by stroking a double which allowed Stachowsky and Lara to cross the plate and increased Greenville's lead 3-0.

The Braves would score their first run in the bottom half of the fourth as Robert Marcial lead off the inning with a double and Jamie Romak followed with a double of his own scoring Marcial and cutting the deficit to 3-1. Greenville would answer back in the top half of the fifth with a single run to give the Drive a lead of 4-1.

The Braves would spoil Greenville's hopes of victory in the bottom of the seventh as eight Braves batters came to the plate. Jordan Schafer led off the inning with a single up the middle, moved to second on a wild pitch, and later to third on a single by Jamie Trejo. Quentin Davis would then deliver an RBI single allowing Trejo to move to second and Schafer to score making the score 4-2. Marcial would continue the hit parade with an RBI double that plated Trejo and Romak would pick up his second RBI of the game with a groundout that allowed Davis score. Max Ramirez would finish the scoring with a single that let Marcial trot home and gave Rome the lead 5-4 and eventually the victory.

Rome pitcher Tyler Bullock (6-4) would pick up the win in relief for the Braves throwing three scoreless innings while striking out three. Greenville reliever Tim Cox (3-5) was tagged with the loss throwing only two innings while allowing six hits and four earned runs. Brad Nelson threw a perfect ninth for Rome en route to his fourth save of the season.

Rome and Greenville conclude their four game set tomorrow at 7pm at State Mutual Stadium. For ticket information call 706-378-5144 or log on to www.romebraves.com.
