Brett Ponich Reassigned to Alaska

Peoria Rivermen General Manager Kevin McDonald announced today the club has reassigned defenseman Brett Ponich to the Alaska Aces of the ECHL.

Ponich, 22, has appeared in 26 games this season for the Rivermen and has recorded 38 penalty minutes. He has also skated in 20 games with ECHL Evansville where he had a goal and two assists.

Over the past two seasons, the 6'7", 204-pound defenseman has played in 80 game with Peoria. Selected by the St. Louis Blues in the second round (#48 overall) in 2009, Ponich played four seasons for the Portland Winterhawks of the Western Hockey League.
