
Brand-New Top Prospect Thomas Saggese Debuts at Hammons Field this Week

Springfield, MO - Get your first look at newly-acquired St. Louis Cardinals Top Prospect INF Thomas Saggese this week as he and the Springfield Cardinals continue the homestand against the Northwest Arkansas Naturals, Double-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals!
Saggese made his debut Tuesday night for the Cardinals, going 1-for-3 with a sharp base hit and a run-saving defensive play for Springfield.
Saggese was just acquired as part of the five-player deal when the St. Louis Cardinals sent LHP Jordan Montgomery and RHP Chris Stratton to the Texas Rangers. RHP Tekoah Roby, now the Cardinals #4 prospect, and LHP John King were also part of the package from Texas.
Saggese has been one of the best players in the Texas League this season, batting .313 with 15 home runs, 78 RBI, and a .894 OPS in 92 games played for the Frisco RoughRiders. The California native leads the Texas League in with 115 hits and 188 total bases, while ranking 2nd in RBIs and runs (67), 4th in doubles (22), and 5th in batting average.
The 21-year-old is now ranked by MLB.com as the #8 prospect in the Cardinals organization. He was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 5th round of the 2020 MLB Draft out of Carlsbad (California) High School.
