Springfield, MO - The Cardinals never saw a lead in Wednesday night's match up against the Naturals until Arquímedes Gamboa hit a ground-rule double in the bottom of the 9th to force in a run from Jose Alvarez from 2nd base, walking off Northwest Arkansas 4-3 on Wednesday night at Hammons Field.

W: RHP Roy Garcia (1-0)

L: RHP John McMillon (3-1)

Notables:

Newly-acquired prospect INF Thomas Saggese hit his first career home run as a Springfield Cardinal, his 16th of the 2023 season, to tie the ballgame with the Naturals in the bottom of the 1st inning on just the second pitch he sees. Saggese leads the league with 117 hits and 193 total bases.

CF Victor Scott II had a good night at the plate and an even better night on base, going 2-for-4 and stealing his 20th base of Double-A, his 70th of the 2023 season. He's reached base safely in all but ONE games played with Springfield since being promoted on June 27.

RHP Roy Garcia earned his first win in Double-A, tossing 2.0 IP with no hits, no runs, no walks, and 3 strikeouts
