Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX - Texas' powerplay continued to stay hot despite the cool weather in North Richland Hills as they were able to defeat New Mexico 4-1 Saturday at the NYTEX Sports Centre.

New Mexico center Jamie Herrington put the Scorpions up early scoring on goaltender David Cacciola at the 7:04 mark. Just :50 seconds later the Brahmas showed all in attendance at the NYTEX Sports Centre why their powerplay is ranked third in the league as Pete Rouleau shot a goal past Plano, Texas native and Scorpion netminder Andrew Martin. Mike Vellinga and Jordan Cameron were credited with the helpers.

Cameron, in only his second game with the Brahmas this season, remained with the hot hands as he added the Brahmas second goal to put Texas up 2-1 at the 4:25 mark. It was Cameron's second goal in as many nights.

It was an open sheet of ice for most of the second period until the 4:39 mark when Brahmas forward Grant Jacobsen took hold of the Brahmas powerplay and converted with the man advantage to give Texas the 3-1 lead. Justin Kinnunen and Rouleau assisted on the goal.

The Brahmas capped the evening off with a shorthanded goal from Jacobsen for his second goal of the night. Cacciola stopped 25 of 26 shots for the victory, his second against his former team, New Mexico.

The Brahmas next home game is next Saturday against the Tulsa Oilers for a 7:05 PM start. Fans in attendance can take advantage of the evening as it is $1 hot dog night. To get your opportunity for great hometown hockey and $1 hot dogs, please contact the Brahmas offices at (817) 336-4423.
