November 15, 2008 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
New Mexico Scorpions News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX - New Mexico fell to Texas 4-1 on Saturday night. The loss dropped the Scorpions to a 5-7-1 record on the season.
The Scorpions got off to a good start as Jamie Herrington opened the night's scoring 12:56 into the contest. Mike MacDonald worked hard in the corner to keep the puck alive and eventually fed Herrington for the goal.
Texas came in with one of the CHL's top power plays and showed why as Peter Rouleau tipped in a shot, tying the game. The Brahmas grabbed their first lead of the game when Jeff Cameron scored a wraparound goal.
Another power play chance for the Brahmas turned into a goal. Grant Jacobsen got his stick on a puck and elevated it into the Scorps' net, making it a 3-1 contest.
Texas added to their lead with a third period shorthanded goal. Jacobsen got free in the neutral zone and was able to tuck the puck just under the crossbar.
The Scorpions host Colorado on Wednesday, with a $1 soda special all game long. Friday the Sundogs will travel to the Santa Ana Star Center. Both games drop the puck at 7:15 p.m.
The annual Salute to the Military Night, presented by the U.S. Army, is just around the corner. On Saturday, November 22nd the Scorpions will honor all those who are currently serving and have served our great country. Military tickets are only $10 by calling (505) 881-PUCK.
Special jerseys will be worn and auctioned off live after the game. The auction will benefit the ALS Association of New Mexico and the Rob Guinn Foundation.
