Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release

LAREDO, TX - Travis Clayton tied the CHL's all-time record for games played with 708 as the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs fell 4-0 to the Laredo Bucks on Saturday night at the Laredo Entertainment Center. The Mudbugs were shutout for the first time since November 2, 2007, dropping them to 8-3-1 this year.

Clayton became the second player in Central Hockey League history to reach 708 games played in the league, tying the record held by longtime Oklahoma City Blazer Joe Burton. Clayton will become the league' all-time record holder when he steps on the ice for his next game.

Laredo started quick in the contest, jumping out to a 3-0 lead after the first period. Jeff Bes helped set up Rick Kozak's powerplay goal that started the scoring less than two minutes in. Devin Featherstone then scored his first career goal on the powerplay about four minutes later to make it 2-0. A short time later, Bes set up Darryl Smith's even strength goal that gave the Bucks a 3-0 lead. The Mudbugs were outshot 18-8 in the first.

The Mudbugs got many more opportunities in the second period, firing 13 shots compared to Laredo's six. Still despite seven total powerplay chances and a few great chances, the Bugs couldn't solve Sebastien Centomo in goal and still trailed by three entering the third.

The Bucks added another powerplay goal in the third when Jason Dixon tipped home a point blast from Serge Dube to make it 4-0. The Mudbugs had another four powerplay chances in the final period, but never could sneak one by Centomo and fell to 1-1 against Laredo this year.

Making his first start since October 21st, Ken Carroll made 24 saves but suffered his first loss of the season, while Centomo's first shutout this year moved him to 6-3-0 on the season.

The Mudbugs failed to score a powerplay goal for just the second time this year, going 0 for 11 on the man advantage, while the Bucks scored three powerplay goals on seven chances. The Bugs actually outshot Laredo 30-28 in the contest.

Bossier-Shreveport will now head northwest to continue its five-game road trip next weekend against Rocky Mountain and Colorado. The Bugs take on the Rage at 7:05 pm on Friday, November 21st and the Eagles at 7:05 pm Saturday, November 22nd. Before the team leaves though, don't forget about "Powerplay with Scott Muscutt", the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs Coaches Show, which comes up on Monday night from 6:00 to 7:00 at Boomtown Hotel & Casino. As always, the show will also be broadcast live on AM 1130 KWKH.
