Fort Worth Brahmas News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (December 28)- After an abysmal road trip, the Texas Brahmas returned home to the NYTEX Sports Centre Friday evening and came alive as they romped the Odessa Jackalopes 3-2.
Odessa was on the board first when defenseman Alex Dunn scored an unassisted goal at the 12:27 mark in the first period. Seven minutes later Brahmas forward Mark Cody scored his first goal of the season with a feed from Eric Main and Blair Manning to even up the score.
The Brahmas came out into the second hungry for a win made evident through the delivery of hard checks and peppering of pucks at Jackalopes goaltender Alexandre Vincent. After the Brahmas recorded several shots, a Chris Thompson slapper on the powerplay beat Odessa's netminder to put the Brahmas up 2-1. Anders Strome and Blair Manning set up the goal.
The large crowd at the NYTEX Sports Centre was ready to witness a win and cheered on the home team in the third period. The Brahmas and goaltender David Cacciola played strong defense, holding the Jackalopes to 10 shots.
The line of Greg McConnell, Grant Jacobsen and Jordan Cameron gave those in attendance what they were asking for as McConnell scored his eighth goal of the year to put the Brahmas up 3-1. Odessa's Sebastien Thinel was able to deflect a shot past Brahmas goalie David Cacciola to put the Jackalopes within one with eight minutes remaining in the game. But, Texas was not looking back as they defeated the Odessa Jackalopes 3-2.
Texas will be back on the road again to face the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs Saturday night at 7:05 PM. They will return home for a New Year's Eve game against the Mudbugs at the NYTEX Sports Centre for an earlier, 6:05 PM start. For tickets and information regarding the Brahmas New Year's Eve party following Monday's game please contact the Brahmas offices at (817) 336-4423 or go to www.brahmas.com.
