Mudbugs Look to Extend Win Streak vs. Brahmas
December 28, 2007 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release
The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs will play their final home game of 2007 at 7:05 on Saturday night at the CenturyTel Center against the Texas Brahmas. The game will be the second out of three in a row against Texas for the Mudbugs.
The 'Bugs have been the hottest team in the CHL over the past month, with just one regulation loss since Thanksgiving. Bossier-Shreveport has won 16 of its last 20 games and gotten points in 18 of those 20. The Mudbugs have come marching back in the Northeast Division standings during that time; from 14 points out of the division lead one month ago to now just four points behind first place Mississippi .
A big reason for the surge has also been Bossier-Shreveport's play on home ice. The Mudbugs lost their first four contests at CenturyTel Center this year, but they haven't dropped a game in Bossier City since. The current streak of 11 consecutive home wins stands tied for the fourth longest home winning streak in franchise history. The All-time franchise record is 15 home wins in a row during the 2003-2004 season.
Saturday's game will be the second in a row for the Mudbugs against the Texas Brahmas, following a 3-0 Bossier-Shreveport victory on Wednesday night. Kevin Cooper scored two goals in that game and John DeCaro recorded his league-leading fifth shutout of the year as the 'Bugs beat Texas for the first time this year. Following Saturday's game, the two teams will play again on New Year's Eve at the NyTex Sports Centre to close out the three-game series.
The Mudbugs and Brahmas will drop the puck at 7:05 pm on Saturday night at the CenturyTel Center . Tickets for the game are available and can be purchased through Ticketmaster or by calling the Mudbugs office at 318-754-BUGS.
