
Northern Conference All-Star Starters Announced

The 2008 Central Hockey League (CHL) All-Star game is scheduled for Wednesday, January 16th at the Broomfield Event Center and today the CHL announced the starting line-up for the Northern Conference. The starters were selected following completion of balloting among all CHL Head Coaches, Communications Departments and selected media members in each market.
The hometown Rocky Mountain Rage are represented well in the game with center Brent Cullaton and right wing Scott Wray being selected to the team joining Northern Conference Head Coach Tracy Egeland who leads the team on the basis of having the highest winning percentage in the Northern Conference. Wray led all balloting, selected on 36 of the 42 completed ballots. The Ottawa, Ontario native is currently tied for third in the CHL in scoring with 42 points and tied for second in goals with 17. Cullaton leads the league with 33 assists.
Joining Cullaton and Wray on the front line is Colorado's Greg Pankewicz who will be playing in his 4th CHL All-Star game. The veteran ranks in the CHL's top 10 in scoring with 36 points. Pankewicz is the CHL's all-time All-Star game point's leader with 15 points and tops in assists with eight helpers. He will be joined by teammate Aaron Schneekloth who will be playing in his second CHL All-Star game, his first as a member of the Eagles. The defenseman is tied for third in the league among blue-liners with 26 points.
The other starting defenseman is Oklahoma City's Mike Burgoyne who will be starting in his second consecutive All-Star game. The second-year player leads all CHL defensemen with 32 points and is the top scorer on the Blazer's team.
The starting goaltender for the Northern Conference will be Youngstown's Andy Franck who has been on re-call with the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League since November 28th. The goaltender backstopped the Northeast Division leading SteelHounds to a 12-1-1 start during a CHL-long 14-game road trip to start the season. Franck was 11-2-1 with a 2.40 goals against average at the time of his call-up and has gone 7-1-0 with the Bruins in the AHL.
