Andy Franck Named Starting Goaltender For All Star Game

YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO - The Youngstown SteelHounds in conjunction with the Central Hockey League announced today that Andy Franck has been named the starting goaltender for the Northern Conference in the 2008 Dodge CHL All Star Game to take place on Wednesday, January 16th at the Broomfield Entertainment Center in Broomfield, Colorado.

Franck, 26, is a third year pro from Lakewood, Ohio is making his first CHL All Star appearance. Franck was an ECHL All Star in 2006 as a member of the Wheeling Nailers. In 14 games for Youngstown he compiled an 11-2-1 record with 10 of those wins coming on the road. He currently has a 2.40 goals against average and a .911 save percentage for the Hounds.

The 6-1, 185-pound goalie was called up to the American Hockey League's Providence Bruins on November 28th. In eight games for the top affiliate of the Boston Bruins he has amassed a 7-1-0 record with a 2.40 goals against average and a save percentage of .885.

"Well deserved," said SteelHounds Head Coach Kevin Kaminski. "Andy is one of the biggest reasons we were able to get off to our amazing start this season and he has earned his call up. Andy is playing great in Providence and we are very proud of him for achieving this honor."

Franck is the first goaltender in franchise history to be selected to play in the All Star Game.
