Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (December 26)-On Boxing Day, the Brahmas offense was 'boxed out' by Rio Grande Valley at the NYTEX Sports Centre 3-0, despite outshooting the Bees 31-26.

The Southeast match up started slowly with only one penalty called a piece in the scoreless first period. Rio Grande Valley was close to getting on the boards, but forward Jordan Cameron helped save a dancing puck in Brahmas goaltender David Cacciola's crease with one minute remaining in the period.

In the second, the tempo picked up, but the scoreboard remained the same, 0-0 thanks to a dazzling defensive play from Kevin McLeod breaking up a Killer Bees one on one play from center Daryl Moore at the six minute mark. Texas tested Rio Grande's goaltender Christian Boucher with 12 shots on goal.

The Killer Bees found a way to get the puck past Cacciola in the third when Jesse Bennefield scored his team leading 13th goal of the season, ultimately the game winner. After a pair of Evan Rankin goals for the Killer Bees, the Brahmas found themselves down 3-0. Texas' best opportunity came with :30 seconds remaining in the final period when rookie forward Matt Burto slapped a shot off of the pipes of goaltender Christian Boucher.

The last time the Brahmas were shutout of a game came last season on February 22 when Texas hosted the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs for a 2-0 loss.
