Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks News Release
FARGO, N.D. - The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks returned home following a 10-game road trip and extended their win streak to four with a 5-2 victory over the Kansas City T-Bones, in front of a sell-out crowd of 4,770 Friday at Newman Outdoor Field.
Keith Brachold batted 4-for-4 with a double, stole two bases and scored two runs to lead the RedHawks at the plate. His second run scored in the sixth on a Todd Jennings single gave Fargo-Moorhead a 3-1 lead, and proved to be the eventual game-winning run.
"He was really into it tonight," RedHawks manager Doug Simunic said. "He had four really good at bats. He was stealing some bases - he was our offense there for awhile."
RedHawks starter Alex Caldera improved his record to 6-2 on the season throwing seven innings for Fargo-Moorhead (24-17). Caldera allowed two earned runs on only four hits, struck out nine batters and walked one. Joe Harris pitched a 1-2-3 eighth for the 'Hawks and Chase Johnson struck out one in the ninth for his 11 th save of the season.
Shaun Garceau pitched six innings allowing three runs (one earned) on six hits for the T-Bones. Garceau (1-6) struck out five and walked two in the loss.
Fargo-Moorhead combined for 11 hits, including two each by Zach Penprase and Mitch Einertson. Nic Jackson went 1-for-4 and had two RBIs.
"I mean we have certainly hit much better than we did before the road trip," Brachold said. "Whenever the whole lineup hits like that it's a huge confidence booster - it takes the pressure off everyone."
Four players combined for the five Kansas City hits, with Jairo Perez going 2-for-4 with a double.
Fargo-Moorhead and Kansas City continue their three-game series at 6 p.m. Saturday at Newman Outdoor Field. Tickets are available at fmredhawks.com or by calling (701) 235-6161.
