Lake County Captains News Release


(Bowling Green, KY) - Bowling Green (22-12) sent nine men to the plate and batted around in the sixth inning, en route to the 8-0 win over the Captains (12-21). In the inning, the Hot Rods used four hits, including a two run single by Andrew Toles to extend their lead to 8-0. Toles was 2-5 on the day with two runs scored, two RBI and three stolen bases. Bowling Green batted around in sixth.

Bowling Green scored a single run in the bottom of the third inning. With two outs, Toles singled to left field and then stole second and third base. He scored on a double by Tyler Goeddel and it was 1-0. It became 4-0 in the fifth when with two outs, Toles reached on an error and then scored on a ground rule double by Joey Rickard. The score was 2-0 when Rickard trotted home on the homerun by Goeddel. The score was 4-0 but it set the stage for the four run sixth.

RHP Luis Dejesus (0-3) started the game for the Captains. Dejesus pitched four and two thirds innings and allowed four runs, three of which were unearned on five hits. Dejesus took the loss. Luis Morel pitched the remainder of the game for the Captains. Morel allowed four earned runs on five hits over three and one third innings pitched.

RHP Taylor Guerrieri (2-1) started for Bowling Green. Guerrieri got the win after pitching five innings and allowing just one hit. Guerrieri struck out ten in his five innings of work. The Hot Rods bullpen allowed just one hit over the remaining four innings.

Lake County will stay in Bowling Green Kentucky on Monday Afternoon. The Captains will start LHP Ryan Merritt (1-2, 3.19) and he will face RHP Jeff Ames (4-0, 1.45) from the Hot Rods. First pitch is at 11:35 AM.
